The story behind the masterpiece

One magical night in Trancoso, in 2008, Luxembourgish architect François Valentiny met Reinold Geiger — the founder of L'Occitane en Provence. From that conversation was born an idea that would become one of Brazil's most singular cultural spaces.

Opened in 2014, Teatro L'Occitane was conceived with the landscape as its starting point. Its monumental architecture, inspired by the fronds of native palm trees, blends into its surroundings with imposing, rounded forms — and acoustics that rival the world's finest concert halls.

Since then, the theater has welcomed international artists, major brands, and the most memorable weddings on the Bahian coast. And every March, the Festival Música em Trancoso turns the space into the most vibrant cultural hub in Brazil's northeast.
